Rev. Dr. Ross Lockhart – Guest Speaker May 1, 2012

The Rev. Dr. Ross Lockhart was the guest speaker at the May 1, 2012 meeting of the Presbytery at Haney Church in Maple Ridge. Reflecting upon the text from Acts 17:23 and in a presentation that was both entertaining and informative he pointed out how the church in today’s Canadian setting cries out for preaching that is biblical, relevant, and authentic.

Strategic Planning meeting with Gordon Haynes – Results!

Click on Notes from the Conversations with Gordon Haynes to download the raw notes (.pdf) from the conversations that took place among 30 people convened by Gordon Haynes to help him consider the future of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. Folks came from Westminster, Han-Ca West, and Kamloops Presbyteries, so we had a good cross-section. The Mission Committee of the Presbytery of Westminster is working on a summary and would welcome your suggestions about strikes you as the most important ideas to highlight. Please e-mail your suggestions to Brian Fraser at brianfraser@shaw.ca.

Many thanks for adding your voice in this way.

Notes and Results from Mission Event – Fall 2011

On November 19, about 40 of us from the presbytery got together to continue our conversations about effective ways of being missional congregations. We began circulating and discussing among tables that highlighted the work being done by Richmond, Coquitlam, Central, St. Andrew’s Hall, West Point Grey, and Brentwood. Many thanks to all who prepared these presentations. Dale Woods from The Presbyterian College, Montreal, reflected on what he had heard and seen. In the afternoon, we continued the conversations about what congregations found inspiring. Dale wrapped up the day with further reflections. This is the raw data generated through the notes from the day. The Mission Committee will be doing a summary with some suggestions to be available early in the new year.

We hope to organize two of these gatherings each year. We’ll have dates for the February Presbytery meeting.
